Tuesday, June 8, 5 am - 5:15 am CT
Celebration of Oneness - Global Awareness (CoOGA)

In the yard of St. Francis Catholic Worker House, 4652 N Kenmore, Chicago.
OR at a corresponding tine wherever you happen to be.

Celebrate the Venus transit -- contemplate our global trajectory. Link readings, meditations, prayers, future commitments, to the photons suffused toward us when Venus transits the sun for the first time since 1882.

Celebrate the initiation of "The Global Oneness Commitment".

The June Venus transits of 1761 and 1769 motivated the first international scientific collaboration. The coming June Venus transits of 2004 and 2012 inspired the creation of "The Global Oneness Commitment", an eight-year project with the goal of uniting people around the globe to mutual actions in order to not only save what we have, but to transform the planet. This project straddles what many consider the most momentous event of the coming quarter century - The Ending of the Age of Cheap Oil. The alarm clock for this transition was recently reset to 2008 (from 2010).

In Chicago, you can also experience this new dawn, telescopically at the planetarium.

The Venus transits of 2004 and 2012 straddle what many many consider the most momentous event of the coming quarter century - the ending of the Age of Cheap Oil. The alarm clock for this transition was recently reset to 2008 (from 2010), http://www.peakoil.net/ squarely in the middle of the 2004 and 2012 Venus transits. We are about to begin a mandatory global recovery from fossil fuel addiction. The transition will be extremely difficult as every component of developed society is unrenewably fueled. Even our food is transformed fossil fuel, consuming as much as a hundred calories to present one calorie at our table.

"The Global Oneness Commitment is an eight-year project with the goal of uniting people around the globe to mutual actions in order to not only save what we have, but to transform the planet thru an increase in spiritual awareness - a new consciousness creating a joyful home for all its inhabitants and sincere respect for all forms of life. "
The project period is bounded by the twin Venus Transits of 2004 and 2012.

What may come with the Venus Transits

Venus transits may be alone among astronomical events to have a track record that associates them with major steps in the development of the Global Brain.

The June Venus transits of 1761 and 1769 motivated the first international scientific collaboration, which was organized to more accurately determine the distance to the sun by measuring the transit parallax at different sites.
The need for global collaboration is even greater now if we are to assure a quality future for humanity. To minimize trauma we must make preparing for the End of the Age of Cheap Oil our highest priority.

The December,1882 transit of Venus motivated John Phillip Sousa to create his Transit of Venus March in 1883. The collective creativaty of the planet will need to be marshalled to smooth us over the coming bumps in our evolution. So far, enabling a peaceful transition by the year 2012 seems unlikely.

Captain Cook's 1769 voyage in the Endeavour was to observe the transit of Venus from the South Pacific. This years transit will provide insight into the content of Venus' upper atmosphere by observing it against the enhancing backdrop of the solar disk.
